The Ministry of Health said Tuesday it recorded 19 coronavirus deaths and 4,139 new cases across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll since the outbreak began to 4,589 deaths and the total number of infections to 372,417.
The new cases were: 2,679 in Amman, 368 in Zarqa, 363 in Balqa, 246 in Irbid, including 18 in Ramtha district, 106 in Madaba, 95 in Karak, 69 in Jerash, 66 in Aqaba, 47 in Ajloun, 44 in Ma’an, including 9 in Petra, 33 in Mafraq and 23 in Tafila, according to the daily brief by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry.
It said that currently active cases stand 28,614, including 238 that were admitted to hospitals today, and 141 were discharged.
The daily report pointed out that the total number of confirmed cases being hospitalized reached 1,106, while 885 isolation beds were used yesterday, at an occupancy rate of 22%, and 202 ICU beds were used yesterday, at an occupancy rate of 23%, with 78 on ventilators.
It also said that 1,855 COVID-19 patients recovered today in home isolation and in hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 339,214.
Further, it said that 34,840 swab tests were taken today, bringing the total number of PCR tests since the start of the pandemic to 4,440,208, with a positivity rate today of about 11.88%.
The ministry urged strict adherence to the defense orders and to follow preventive precautions, especially wearing masks and not holding gatherings of more than 20 people, in addition to following the awareness campaigns it previously launched in partnership with ministries and agencies to prevent infection, and to register for vaccination.
